Do you need a bed frame?

Did yourbed frame brake?

Are you missing a piece of your bed frame from a recent move?

Did you recently purchase a new mattress and need to put it on a bed frame?

If so, it’s time for a new bedframe.

First, you should know“what is a bed frame?”
A bed frame is the foundation for your mattress. It supports your mattress and elevates many of the benefits of the mattress you purchased.

Bed frames may be selected for style, comfort, or ease of use, as well as cost.

There a 2 main types of bed frames in our Wilmington, Delaware Mattress store, Home Mattress Center.

  1. Platform

A platform bed frame does not need a box spring for the mattress. The mattress sits right on top of the platform and usually lack a foot board. Platform beds are lower to the ground and many people with a shorter stature prefer platform beds.  Additionally, they can easily support a memory foam mattress.  Many platform bed frames also come with storage drawers for simple storage. If a platform bed has slats, make sure it has ample support for the type or size of mattress you are purchasing.  Our Home Mattress Center sleep experts can help you find the perfect mattress for a platform bed.

  1. Standard

A standard frame is set low to the ground and requires a box spring and a mattress. These beds have both headboards and footboards. They come with slats, either wood or metal, to support the box spring and mattress. Wood bed frames are less likely to creak and are more apt to last longer over time.
Some people like to lay their mattress directly on the floor. This has many cons including creating a breeding ground for mold. It leaves no space for air to flow under the mattress, and therefore, causes bacteria and mold to form over time.

That’s why it’s important to get the right bed frame for your mattress.

Each bed frame has their own unique style or characteristics and comes in all sizes including:

Full
Queen
King
Twin Extra Long (Twin XL is common in college dorms)
California King

Bed frame styles can be as simple as day beds or as exciting and daring as water beds.
Sleigh beds are unique because of the shape of the headboard and footboard.
Poster bed frames are typically adorned with 4 vertical columns. Sometimes a 4-poster bed is draped over the top with a piece of decorative fabric.

Murphy beds, trundle bed frames, bunk bed frames, cots, sofa beds, and day beds are used to save space in a smaller room or location. Or they are used inchildren’s rooms.
